Transitioning: Overcoming Our Old Self.

Let's face it, a lot of us have decided so many times that we are going to start living right. We go to church on Sunday or we go to a good conference and the preaching touches our heart so much that we decide to change. It just feels like the preacher is talking to us personally and we being touched sit there rethinking our lives. We reconcile with God, we rededicate our lives to Him and feel guilty for all our sins. However, when we leave the church, somehow we forget all that and how touched we were. We go right back to our sins and start living our previous lives. Next Sunday again we go to church and the preaching touches our heart we decide to live right again but yet AGAIN we go back our sins. It becomes like a routine and we never actually keep the promise we made to God to live right for Him.

According to the Bible, this is what you are. You are like the seed that was sown on rocky ground. (Matthew 13:20) You receive the word with joy but since you're on rocky ground and you have no root, when temptations arise you fall away. You fall right into the temptations. We've all been here. The thing is, Satan is at work. His ultimate goal for your life is to devour you. As you go back to your normal environment, he brings back the things that defile you. Worldly music, social media, food, cursing, pornography, masturbation, fornication, partying, etc. and because you are still living by the flesh, you'll desire the things of the flesh so you fall right into that temptation (Galatians 5:16). Some of us might argue that it is rather challenging to change and give up our carnal desires. I agree. But when you desire something sincerely, you'll do every possible thing in your power to get it. You have to be passionate about God. If you are not passionate about changing, if you are not zealous about living for God, you'll always go back to the old you.

So I beg of you, that you make it a priority to seek God. Make it a priority to desire the things of God, to live by His Spirit, to dwell in His presence and to acknowledge Him every second of your life. You see Jesus never promised it will be easy, He only promised that the reward will be worth it (Romans 8:18) and that He'll see you through it all. God won't let you be tempted more than you can bear, He will always create a way out of every temptation you find yourself in (1 Corinthians 10:13). Declare Him master over your life. Accept Jesus as your personal Lord and Savior, this time, mean it with every part of your being and He'll take over. Be ready for the tremendous changes that are about to occur in your life. You sure won't remain the same.

Accept Him right now. God Bless.
